Updates from the fall 2024

  • Earlier this year, we finally published Coralie Picoche’s PhD work in Journal of Mathematical Biology. See here for a quick description.

  • André Luis Luza joined last spring as a postdoctoral fellow in Biogeco (co-supervised with Didier Alard) to work on occupancy models to analyse heterogeneous biodiversity data, with an application to Southwest butterflies. We build on recent work on occupancy models with spatial and temporal random effects to foster parameter estimability.

  • Since September, the lab is full again, with two new postdocs:

    • Christie Le Coeur. Christie has landed a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship to work on demographic and life-history effects of environmental variability.
    • Julien Gibaud. Julien works on the identifiablity of stochastic state-space models for ecological dynamics (funded by Frédéric’s ANR JCJC grant).
  • Frédéric had a great time at ISEC 2024 in Swansea this summer, catching up with the statistical ecology community. Matthieu Paquet presented there our joint work on Integrated Population Models for competition between species.
