2020 News

Well, this has been a difficult year for everybody and we certainly hope that the end of 2020 has less surprises to offer… That said, amidst the covid-19 chaos, some pieces of good news:

  • Alix started a new position at the French committee for the IUCN this spring. She’s working on the Ecosystem Red List. Congratulations Alix!

  • Gaël Bardon, who studied with Frederic how stage/age structure can help foster coexistence for his MSc “Mathématiques du Vivant” (Polytechnique & AgroParisTech), has successfully defended his thesis. Bravo Gaël! Gaël will now move on to a PhD on penguin demographic modelling with Céline Le Bohec. Congratulations again!

  • Coralie has been working on how seed banks can benefit phytoplankton dynamics – we’ve got promising results, stay tuned.

  • Frederic just got an ANR grant for young(ish) researchers, spanning 2021-2024. We will work on the identifiability of dynamic models including interactions within and between species. More on this soon; there will be a MSc project advertised this fall and a postdoctoral position starting sometime in 2021. Please get in touch if interested.
